A harness is a program on the laptop. A model is the mind it calls, at a lab or on the disk. Omarchy wires the harnesses. You sign in. We install the ISO. We do not sell the key.

Commands a current install wires

Taken from the Omarchy manual on the quattro line. The published page at omarchy.org/manual/ai sometimes lags the manual in git by a few names. The picker on the machine wins. Super + Space, then Setup > Defaults > Agent. Or omarchy default agent with one of these.

Google retired the Gemini CLI for most accounts on 18 June 2026 and folded that work into Antigravity. On Omarchy the command is agy. Typing gemini still maps there.

OpenClaw is under Install > AI. Its screen is a local web app on its own gateway. OpenClaw lives in ~/.openclaw and updates itself: the Control UI’s Update Gateway button or openclaw update. Omarchy only picks the release a fresh install starts from. omarchy default agent openclaw selects that same app when the picker offers it.

Install > AI also carries chat apps: ChatGPT, the Claude desktop app (Chat, Cowork, and Claude Code tabs), Grok Bot, Hermes Desktop, OpenClaw, Perplexity, and T3 Code. Those are apps. The table is the coding loop. A CLI that is missing from the table can still get the same lazy stub with omarchy-mise-install.

1. 01

   The first launch is a download

   The files in ~/.local/bin are mise stubs, a few lines of bash. Typing claude fetches Claude Code, then asks you to authenticate. omarchy update, alias mup, keeps those stubs current. Hermes is the exception. Choosing it installs Hermes Desktop, a runtime in ~/.hermes, and a few minutes of setup. After that, hermes update moves Hermes ahead of the next Omarchy release. The theme skin it receives is named omarchy.

2. 02

   One default, two clicks

   omarchy default agent claude. A fresh install asks once. Picking a missing harness installs it. Super + Shift + Ctrl + A opens the default in its own terminal. Once the machine has seen usage, the bar grows an agents icon. Left-click for the meter: plan, 5-hour window, week, usage by model. Right-click to launch. First run walks you through Claude, Codex, or Grok. After that it meters Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Kimi, Cursor, Copilot, Muse, Antigravity, Devin and more, plus prepaid balances for Fireworks, OpenRouter and DeepSeek. Several Claude, Codex, or Grok subscriptions can stay signed in and switch: omarchy agent account add and omarchy agent account use. omarchy agent usage-update refreshes the records about every 15 minutes.

   Four keys, three of them eager

   In a terminal, a is the default, inline. c is OpenCode, cx is Claude Code, cy is Codex. People swap the last two. The manual’s order is the one above, and all three start in auto-approve. So does omarchy agent prompt "Read the window rules and propose a patch. Do not apply it." Auto-approve edits the tree. Commit first, or run omarchy-snapshot create.

   The repo lives in ~/Work

   A launch from $HOME starts in ~/Work. The harnesses refuse to remember trust for the home directory, so put the git repo there on purpose. Picking Claude also tries to install its browser extension for Chromium, Chrome, Brave, Brave Origin, and Edge, and may ask for your system password. Cancelling that prompt still selects Claude. Restart the browser, then /chrome inside Claude Code checks the link. Firefox and Zen do not get the extension.

5. 05

   A signed-in browser is the computer

   Connect the permission to the specific change. If Chromium is logged into a bank, a host portal, or a cloud console, the agent that can drive that browser can spend the money and change the DNS. Close those sessions before auto-approve. The rung below is the habit. Read, then invoke, then a scoped edit.

6. 06

   Two trees, and an experimental skill

   /usr/share/omarchy is upstream. ~/.config is yours. The Omarchy skill will edit Hyprland, the bar, and a theme, and different models follow it to different effect. Plan mode first. If it makes a mess of Omarchy’s own files, omarchy reinstall configs puts them back.

7. 07

   The snapshot restores root, and home stays

   omarchy update takes a bootable snapshot. omarchy-snapshot create takes one when you ask. Restore from the Limine menu, or with omarchy-snapshot restore. That brings back the system. It leaves /home alone, so a bad edit in ~/.config is still there afterward. Git is the undo for your files. Setup > Direct Boot skips Limine on the way up. Omarchy refuses to add that EFI entry on American Megatrends firmware. Our installs follow upstream: Limine and LUKS.

8. 08

   Let the CLI be the API

   omarchy and omarchy commands --json are how a harness should change this desktop. omarchy theme list, then omarchy theme set. Claude Code, Pi, OpenCode, and Hermes follow that theme. A hand-rolled rewrite of the Hyprland config is how the screen goes black at midnight.

9. 09

   Crashes already have a door

   A segfault raises Process crashed. Click it and the default harness gets the dump plus Omarchy’s diagnose-crash skill. By hand, omarchy agent crash and a pid from coredumpctl list. omarchy crash mute hyprland silences one program. omarchy crash mute hyprland off brings the notice back. The program still crashes. Trigger > Toggle > Crash Capture, or omarchy toggle crash-capture, stops the watcher.

    A layout, then a swarm

    tdl cx is editor, Claude Code, and a terminal. tdl c cx puts OpenCode beside Claude. tds is the four-pane square with a live diff. tsl 4 c is four OpenCode panes. Herdr has the same shapes as hdl and hsl. A swarm can spend a week of quota before lunch. Commit the repo, snapshot the system, then swarm.

    Paste the way the harness expects

    Super + C and Super + V are the desktop clipboard. Super + Ctrl + V is history. Harnesses generally want Ctrl + V for an image and Super + V for text. The image paste is the one people miss, and then they paste a path instead of the picture.

    This page loses to the menu

    Model IDs above were checked on 1 Nov 2026 against Anthropic’s models overview, OpenAI’s API model list, and xAI’s model docs. The harness list was checked against the quattro manual. When your /model menu disagrees, the menu is right. We will revise this page. We will not pretend a blog from June is still the bill.

   Try Omarchy app

   Real desktop in a VM on a Mac. Lowest risk. The agent stops when you close the other lid.

2. 2

   Official ISO

   Free. Under two minutes once the stick boots. You own Secure Boot, the Wi-Fi 7 card, proprietary NVIDIA drivers, and suspend.

3. 3

   Dual-boot or a spare disk

   Your files stay on the other OS. So does the work. The agent stops when you reboot back. The Saturday buys a boot menu.

4. 4

   A machine we already made agree

   Official ISO on a warrantied Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer, or Asus. WiFi and Bluetooth Radios forced to work and tested, so the first harness download has a network. UPS. You sign in. Enjoy.
