# Omarchy laptop FAQs

### What is Omarchy?

Omarchy is DHH’s omakase Linux: Arch rolling, the Hyprland tiling Wayland compositor, and Quickshell. The current line is 4.x Quattro. Keyboard-first, one theme across the whole machine, coding agents in the menu. Free at omarchy.org. We install that official ISO on a name-brand laptop and ensure compatibility and test the radios.

### Do you install the official ISO?

Yes. Current Omarchy as published at omarchy.org at configuration time. As of 2026-09-15 that is 4.0.4 (Quattro), with the linux-omarchy kernel. We are not Omarchy upstream. Checkout is on thelinuxlaptop.com.

### What desktop does it ship with?

Hyprland. That is the Omarchy desktop: tiling, Super + Space for the menu, numbered workspaces. GNOME or KDE will boot if you change it on the product page; they are not the Omarchy experience.

### Is Secure Boot on?

Off, as Omarchy requires. We leave Secure Boot and TPM disabled so the install boots the way upstream documents. LUKS full-disk encryption is the upstream default.

### Will Wi-Fi and the GPU work?

We test Wi-Fi, GPU, audio, webcam, Bluetooth, and touchscreen on the installed Omarchy system. We test the GPU before it leaves. Actually, we test EVERYTHING before it leaves. If it doesn’t work, we make it work or it doesn’t ship. AMD iGPU machines are the safest daily Hyprland drivers. NVIDIA SKUs are badged; Omarchy’s installer handles NVIDIA.

### Do you build these laptops?

No. We source new Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus machines, install Omarchy, and test them. You keep the manufacturer hardware warranty. We do not sell white boxes and we do not manufacture metal.

### Where do I actually pay?

On thelinuxlaptop.com. Every “Omarchy →” button opens that chassis on The Linux Laptop Company with Omarchy already selected. Same cart, same engineer, same UPS Ground. This domain does not take payment.

### Can I dual-boot?

Default is full-disk Omarchy with LUKS, the way the official installer does it. Dual-boot only if you ask, and only if the machine has the disks for it. We set that on the TLLC product page.

### What happens on first boot with agents?

You pick a default agent (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Copilot, Grok, and others Omarchy ships). Crash a process, hand it to the agent. Local models via Ollama / LM Studio from the AI menu. We do not sell those API keys and we do not ship a vendor chatbot.

### NVIDIA or AMD?

AMD iGPU is the calm daily driver for Hyprland. NVIDIA SKUs (LOQ, XPS 16 in this catalog) are badged NVIDIA. Omarchy’s installer handles NVIDIA. We test the GPU before it leaves. Actually, we test EVERYTHING before it leaves. If it doesn’t work, we make it work or it doesn’t ship.

### How do I get updates?

Use Omarchy’s own Update menu. It is a rolling Arch system. We do not freeze a private remix.

### What about returns?

Returns follow The Linux Laptop Company policy: RMA, USA only. Change of mind is 30 days with a restocking fee; outbound shipping is not refunded. If the Linux install or a radio we tested fails as shipped, that is ours. Details: thelinuxlaptop.com/shipping-returns/

### Do you ship outside the United States?

No. UPS Ground, USA only.

### Is this a good first Linux laptop?

For most people, no. Omarchy is keyboard-first and tiled. Ubuntu LTS is still the kinder default on thelinuxlaptop.com. This site is for people who already want Omarchy.

### Are you the official Omarchy store?

No. Omarchy is a trademark of the Omacom Foundation. This is The Linux Laptop Company installing their ISO on name-brand hardware. We do not imply partnership or endorsement.
